About & Plan your visit

Arrietan Biennial is an international platform of contemporary art founded in the locality of Arrieta, Bizkaia, in June 2026.

It is conceived as an initiative committed to making art accessible, decentralise culture, and foster a connection with the rural environment, alternating moments of intensity with others of reverberation and attentive listening. Biennial years are conceived as a celebration of artworks, encounters, and experiences that encourage new relations between artists, territory, and community. The years in-between, are conceived as a period of reflection and renewal: a time for research devoted to gathering the traces of what has been experienced, reflect on processes, and give shape to publications, conversations, and encounters in other formats.

Like a wave, the biennial moves forward through successive impulses, extending its trajectory beyond each edition and gradually building a shared memory and an ever-deeper relationship with Arrieta and its surroundings.
